Woods Reservoir

Woods Reservoir

Woods Reservoir is a small lake that was formed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, for Arnold Air Force by construction of Wood’s Reservoir Dam impounding the Elk River, near Tullahoma, Tennessee. Construction was completed in 1952, the lake provides water for the aeronautical testing facilities at Arnold Air Force Base which require large reliable volumes of water for cooling.

Note that unlike Corps and TVA lakes the The U.S. Air Force controls the generations schedule at this dam. It does not post the planned generation times before hand online.

The lake is open to the public for fishing.

Lake Size: 3,980 Acres

Miles of Shoreline: 64 Miles

Dam Height: 82 Feet

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation has issued an advisory warning against eating catfish from Woods Lake due to heavy concentrations of dangerous PCB’s.

Please consider showing your appreciation of Woods Reservoir by picking up some litter during your next visit, many hands make light work.
