Watauga Lake Camping:

 

Cardens Bluff (USFS)

In Hampton, TN, take US Rt. 321 south/State Rt. 67 east 4.1 miles

to Cardens Bluff sign. Turn left at sign into campground.

Boat ramp is located 1 mile west of

campground on US Rt. 321. Power boating is permitted on the lake,

but there is no access from the campground.

 

Watauga Dam Tailwater Campground (TVA)

This is a self-service campground. (423) 542-3533. Recreation opportunities: 29 camp sites with electric hookups. Restrooms with heated showers and flush toilets, dump station, public phone, picnic tables and grills, canoe access, boat ramps above and below dam, lake and river fishing, hiking trail, walking trail, wildlife viewing area, bird-watching.

The Appalachian Trail crosses Watauga Dam.

From Elizabethton, Tenn., take US 19E north 0.1 miles to Highway 91, then take Highway 91 three miles to Siam Road. Turn right onto Siam Road and follow signs to Watauga Dam Reservation.
