Shop Big South Fork of the Cumberland River--Tennessee
Big South Fork of the Cumberland River during June and low water.
The whole course of the river is boulder strewn. After big rains the
bank often has a line of coal flotsam washed out of old mines along the gorge.
Above: O&W Bridge, originally a railroad bridge retrofitted to autos and wagons,
still in limited use but planking looks dangerous for a vehicle though we saw several drive across.
You can find more information about this interesting bridge here: O&W Bridge
Below: My wife and daughter swam their horses out to an island while I took a break from riding during a twenty five mile
horse ride at Big South Fork.
